Be the futurists in redefining the profession

Learning Opportunities

Continuing education and research have been a core commitment at IIDA since we were founded. The Northern California Chapter provides learning opportunities to help advance the knowledge and careers of design professionals through mentorship, specialized courses that are not available elsewhere, and events that help foster peer to peer relationships.

Virtual Mentorship Program

Providing added value for IIDA NC members, the Virtual Mentorship Program is a way to strengthen and give back to our profession, to teach and mentor the next generation of professionals.  In these challenging times it is also intended as a resource to provide support for professionals who may be seeking new opportunities, enhancing their skills or looking to expand their network.

Emerging Leaders Mentorship Program

Along with supporting the highest level of design skill and knowledge of our members, IIDA NC is dedicated to helping them move their careers forward. The IIDA NC Emerging Leaders Program pairs twelve designers/mentees with twelve outstanding leaders in the profession. Through direct mentoring and a rich curriculum of leadership training, the 10-month program empowers developing professionals to grow their careers and move up in the industry.

NCIDQ Exam Preparation

The IIDA NC chapter encourages certification, and helps members prepare for the NCIDQ exam by offering an intensive preparation seminar twice a year. Led by QPREP, the sessions offer practice tests, study materials, and invaluable support for the Practicum. The two day seminars are typically held Friday and Saturday in the Spring in San Francisco, and the Fall in Silicon Valley.

Continuing Education (CEUs)

IIDA Professional and Associate members are required to complete and report 10 hours of continuing education prior to December 31 each year.  All Professional and Associate members (active and inactive) including educators, IIDA Fellows, and chapter officers must adhere to IIDA compliance requirements.
