Scene Local: Reclaimed! | Blog Post

The IIDA San Francisco City Center was excited to bring back a fan-favorite event in September with a new twist: Scene Local: Reclaimed! Thanks to the generous donation of plywood structures from Principal Builders, our participating teams had a level playing field and a platform for creativity!

Held  at the beautiful Fort Mason Gallery in San Francisco, the Northern California design community curated independent vignettes catered to this year’s theme, Designing for Wellness — a topic that will quite possibly (and hopefully) be the baseline for commercial design and space planning. Because “wellness” is a generalized term, the teams were given an opportunity to express their interpretation of what that means in several ways:

Physical, mental, and emotional health

Ways of reducing stress

Carving out time for yourself and the ones you love and cherish

Adjusting your surroundings in the form of color tones or introducing natural materiality into your everyday life

Whatever “wellness” meant to each team was skillfully woven throughout the maze of scenes. Music, mingling, and cocktails flowed, making for a fantastic evening! The plywood structures were re-purposed and donated with the help of Service West to Building Kidz San Ramon for them to create play structures.

We’re beyond pleased to announce that all proceeds benefited La Casa De Las Madres, our Philanthropic Partner for 2022. Last but certainly not least, a huge thanks to our sponsors for supporting this event (and an internal shout-out to Damien Watson for organizing):
