2026 Distinguished Achievement Honoree

The IIDA Northern California Distinguished Achievement Award is given in recognition of significant and consistent contribution of skills, expertise, or service to the profession of interior design, as a symbol of respectful appreciation for commitment to the highest levels of performance and engagement.

Dave Denny

Dave Denny founded Insidesource in 1991 on a simple but enduring belief: that the space people work in directly shapes business culture, creativity, and performance. More than three decades later, he still shows up to every project with that same conviction.
Under Dave’s leadership, Insidesource has grown into 10 locations spanning Northern California, the Pacific Northwest, the East Coast, and London, and has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the Bay Area over the last 20 years. Since 2024, two Insidesource offices earned certifications for meeting rigorous sustainability standards. Dave attributes that growth and the forward-thinking culture behind it to hiring talented people who genuinely care about their work and their clients.
For 12 years, he’s served as a board member for Philanthropy by Design, an organization that renovates spaces for nonprofits, bringing comfort, dignity, and thoughtful design to underserved communities while giving furniture a second life. He’s proud to call himself PBD’s “furniture guy.”
Dave leads with a deep trust in the people around him. He seeks out talented individuals who bring expertise and fresh perspectives, and he gives them the room to lead. At the same time, he remains one of the most invested people in the room – personally committed to the success of every client, every employee, and every project that carries the Insidesource name.

Rose Young

Rose Young has spent more than 30 years in the contract furniture industry, building a career that spans design, entrepreneurship, and executive leadership. A Bay Area native, she studied design at San Francisco State University and has called the industry home ever since.

She began as a designer, and that creative instinct has never left her. A deep love of design – and the people who bring it to life – has shaped every role she’s held since. That perspective carried her into sales and leadership, including a decade running the San Francisco branch of One Workplace. In 2006, she founded Young Office, which became the first women-owned HNI/Allsteel dealership. When Young Office merged with Insidesource in 2013, Rose continued leading the combined organization through its next chapter.

As the Principal of Global Strategic Accounts at Insidesource, Rose leads workplace strategy for large, complex accounts, bringing a global perspective to the work. A love of travel has given her a broad view of how different cultures approach design and the workplace, and that curiosity shows up in how she thinks about every project. She has been instrumental in Insidesource’s international growth, overseeing projects spanning across Europe and Asia.

Beyond client work, Rose is deeply committed to lifting the next generation – mentoring emerging designers, creatives, and graduating students as they find their footing in the industry.

In her own words, “It’s not about selling furniture – it’s the interactions and the relationships that I’ve built, whether it be clients or designers, people in our industry. That is my passion. That’s what keeps me going.”
