The IIDA Northern California Chapter Honor Awards aims to encourage new ideas and techniques in the design and furnishing of interior spaces. The Honor Awards program focuses on recognizing and honoring outstanding interior design completed by firms within the Northern California Chapter. Join us as we announce who the winners are for Honors Award 2024!

AJ Paron

EVP + Design Futurist

AJ Paron has created and led a multi-million dollar award-winning design/build firm, developed national programs for ASID (American Society of Interior Designers), developed and funded design research programs for the University of Minnesota and pioneered various charitable programs. AJ has also been a design consultant for interiors in healthcare and education, specifically dealing with autism. AJ has used her skills as a designer and blended them with her experience of raising a son with autism.

Katherine Darnstadt

Katherine is an architect, educator and founder of Latent Design, a practice at the intersection of architecture and community development creating social, economic and environmental impact beyond the building. Leveraging design as a tool to make the invisible forces impacting a project visible through architecture. She is winner of the 2013 American Institute of Architects Young Architects Honor Award, 2014 Crain’s Chicago 40 Under 40, teaches at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Northwestern University.

Mark Bryan, NCIDQ

Mark Bryan is a Senior Foresight Manager at the Future Today Institute. Mark’s industry expertise dives into design, the built-environment, culture, supply chain and logistics, sustainability, retail, consumer demographics, and technology. Prior to FTI, Mark worked as a workplace strategist, designer and design researcher, and futurist for clients all across the country. NCIDQ Certified Interior Designer, and a recipient of two 40 Under 40 awards among other publications and recognition.

Ryan Anderson

VP of Global Research & Insights

Ryan leads MillerKnoll’s research, shares insights publicly across the world, and provides workplace strategy and application design advisory services to MillerKnoll customers. With nearly thirty years of industry experience, Ryan’s work has centered on how the places we inhabit can be better designed to support healthy, inclusive, and productive communities. Ryan hosts MillerKnoll’s Looking Forward podcast on the future of work and regularly speaks at public events, has been featured in a wide variety of publications.
