SAN FRANCISCO – July 18, 2017 – The International Interior Design Association of Northern California (IIDA NC) welcomes Shawn McLean-Bergel, IIDA, as its 2017-2018 Chapter President. Having previously served as President-Elect under the leadership of Donald Cremer, IIDA, Shawn will take on the full role and responsibilities as the Chapter continues to advocate for advancements in education, design excellence, legislation, leadership, accreditation, and community outreach. Under her leadership, and the guiding principles of IIDA, the organization will continue to increase the value and understanding of Interior Design as a profession that enhances business value and positively impacts the health and well-being of people’s lives every day.
“It is such an honor to be appointed Chapter President,” said Shawn McLean-Bergel, Founder of McLean Bergel Design. “My involvement in IIDA started in 1999 and I have had a role as a Board member since 2002. This organization and its members have had such a meaningful impact on interior design over the years and inspire me to continue passionately advocating for our profession.”
“During my tenure as Chapter President, I was able to work closely with Shawn on initiatives, events, programs, and more,” said Donald Cremers, Vice President and Senior Interior Designer at HOK. “I am confident that Shawn will bring the energy, enthusiasm, and intellect that will allow this Chapter to thrive.”
Shawn McLean-Bergel is a leader in the architecture and interior design industry with over 20 years of experience creating award-winning commercial interiors for leading global companies such as Apple, Pixar, Google, Del Monte, Deloitte, Electronic Arts, Nokia, KPMG, United Business Media, and the Vancouver International Airport. Her exceptional management skills, fresh design aesthetic, warm personal style, and attention to detail have earned Shawn the admiration of clients and peers alike. She is a NCIDQ Certified Interior Designer and a member Commercial Real Estate Women of San Francisco (CREWSF). She has held many different roles within the IIDA Northern California Chapter including Board Advisor from 2013-2014, Board Member from 2002-2003 and again in 2005-2006, and the aforementioned President-Elect in 2016.
