In an effort to inspire and forge new and enduring relationships between San Francisco’s design community and local manufacturers, the San Francisco City Center reimagined their signature Made Local event and created something entirely new.  Scene Local joined Northern California based artists, fabricators and manufacturers with local design firms, builders, event partners and our philanthropic partner to create curated scenes for attendees to explore and enjoy.

The Pearl provided a multi-layered and scenic locale. Not only is the space itself compelling, but the tall ceilings and open plan allowed our designers and builders to dream big. Guests wandered happily in and out of scenes and up to the roof deck for beautiful bay views, all the while meeting local artisans and seeing what creations they can avail themselves of from our unique local community. The reviews were unanimous: Scene Local was a huge success!

We had over 20 Local Partners showcasing their products this year, including Aion LEDblankblankBorden LightingCreative Wood, Erickson WoodworkingFineliteFireclay TileFyrnKay ChesterfieldLevel 5 DesignLynne Meade PorcelainManningtonMike Danielson StudioMoz DesignMRCWPablo DesignsPeace IndustryPfeiffer LabSchmitt DesignSLATE ArtStikwoodStudio Roeper and Vode Lighting.

Another important dimension to Scene Local is that net proceeds from the event benefit our philanthropic partner. This year it was the Youth Art Exchange, or YAX for short. YAX sparks a shared creative practice between professional artists and public high school students, furthering youth as leaders, thinkers and artists in San Francisco. Their vision is to be a sustainable and dynamic organization with innovative and rigorous arts education programs where art inspires action. We hope that the Scene Local donation will help this wonderful organization continue to inspire and forge young creative minds in our community.

We couldn’t have pulled this amazing event off without the support of our sponsor and event partners, and the help of the design firms and builders that brought the scenes together.
