Golden Gate Urgent Care Clinics (GGUC) have expanded an identifiable brand throughout the Bay Area since the clinic’s founding in 2011. Located in high-traffic residential and commercial districts, the clinics’ design notion focuses on transparency, visibility, and mastering street presence from within. The use of bold colors and graphic statements supported by distinct lighting, unconventional art, and walls of windows create an arrival to each – Civic Center, Lombard, Mill Valley, and West Portal clinics. The clinics’ “signature wall” is painted a Golden Gate Bridge orange found only in the waiting areas. The intensity of color evokes a sense of arrival — mimicking the feeling of crossing the Golden Gate Bridge for the first time.
Moving into clinical spaces, focal walls of blue and yellow reflect the natural atmosphere of the golden state. Accenting white materials and surfaces provide a clean and simple backdrop to the burst of color found throughout the space. In addition, existing structural components of each location are exposed in public areas to highlight an interior flavor reflective of the locale. Our team worked with GGUC to add layers of transparency to their design. The open clinic plan removes the artificial divide between patients and doctors. This technique uses space to allow patients to become instantly comfortable and familiar with the clinic upon arrival. Through design ingenuity, the clinics concept does not attempt to produce a hospitality-like environment but rather a friendly and welcoming place that is both adaptable and flexible to the constraints often found in existing space.VOTE HERE
