The East Bay City Center’s 5th annual Design in Motion Charity Gala and bag auction was a huge success and raised an amazing $12,000 for this year’s charity; Wardrobe for Opportunity (WFO). We couldn’t have made this event such a success without our event sponsors! Thank you to everyone who was able to join us on this special night!

About Design In Motion 2017:

(Clink on the images to see the amazing story of Vernon Robinson, one of the great speakers of the night)

This year’s Design in Motion Charity Gala aligned with the IIDA Northern California Philanthropic theme for 2017 – “Design for Empowerment”. This year’s program benefitted Wardrobe for Opportunity an organization dedicated to helping low-income women and men to achieve economic viability. Representatives from Wardrobe for Opportunity spoke and provided both a broad overview of the charity’s goals as well as two very personal stories from graduates of the program who told us what their experience had meant to them and how Wardrobe for Opportunity had changed their lives for the better. In addition to the moving presentations by the graduates, a Representative from WFO challenged us to think about poverty in general and how hard it is to thrive in our very expensive area.

ABOUT THE BAG AUCTION:

The night ended with a silent auction of 19 beautiful bags that had been hand decorated by designers from firms all over the bay area. Awards were given for the bag that was judged to be the Most Empowering, Most Professional, Most Creative, and the Most Stylish. We’d like to give a huge thank you to all of the designers who donated their time to create a one of a kind bag for Design in Motion. Each one was a work of art.
