As members of the design community and residents of California, we are saddened to watch the severe fires that have mercilessly expanded across the Northern and Southern landscapes and are still raging fiercely. The life and property of California residents are affected and heavily damaged, including homes, schools, shops, farmhouses, roads, vineyards and more.

We feel the sorrow and the pain for the serious casualties, loss of life and property of the California citizens.

We would like to express our deep mourning to the victims and extend our sincere condolences to their relatives as well as the injured people.

We believe that under our state will recover and grow under our thoughts and leadership. Together, we will overcome these disasters and we will carefully rebuild our beautiful state.

We, professional designers, architects, city planners, developers, etc. are in a unique position: We have both the know-how and the medium to promote positive actions towards restorative landscapes and lifestyles. We can help lead the ecological restoration movement by providing sustainable and renewable spaces that help California citizens rebuild their lives and become productive again.

As IIDA NC members, we are looking ahead to how we can help and spread our positive influences to encourage the people who lived in and worked in these fire damaged landscapes spaces, to help rebuild and restore with new energy and thoughts to a better future.

Californians, IIDA NC stands together with you.
