Student Affairs- Race to Design: The Results Are In

Posted on: October 15, 2015

IIDA Silicon Valley City Center, Student Affairs hosted the 2nd annual Race to Design Event on September 10, 2015. The Race to Design event is inspired by the TV show ‘Amazing Race,’ and our 16 contestants solved clues that took them to downtown San Jose design firms, where they worked on a different stages of design challenge and got feedback from senior designers.

KBM, RMW, ABA, HGA and Gensler volunteered their space and time this year.  The competition got tough with teams getting lost and competition getting so fierce that we had to create a lightning round for the top three teams.  This year’s winners are Vicky Huynh, Sarah Towe, and Vuong Dao from San Jose University and Kira Moss from West Valley College – congratulations on the great job well done! Winners received free student memberships and all participants got favors provided by Shaw and Designtex.

Special thanks to KBM who hosted the final location and provided refreshments for exhausted students on what seemed to be the hottest day of the year.  We are looking forward to the 3rd annual Race to Design in September of 2016.
